Fatima A-Isha Lim Hamsain has moved up to the No. 1 spot in the U15 e-Kumite female category after she took the silver medal in the recent E-Champions Trophy World Series 3.

The 14-year-old Hamsain earned 255 points which improved her world ranking points to 1,880 and easily surpass Austria’s Anna Menzel who was relegated to second spot with 1,780 points.

Hamsain, a Grade 8 student at Sen. Renato Companero Cayetano Science and Technology High School in Taguig City, recently won gold medal in the 5th leg of Sportdata e-Tournament World Series, the biggest online tournament in the World Karate Federation.

In that tournament, she received 1,250 points. Her other gold medal was in the second leg of the E-Champions Trophy. She is also competing in other disciplines of online karate.

“Results finally came out, it’s official I’m No. 1,” said Hamsain, whose father Mohammad Isaac Hamsain played for the Pencak Silat national team from 1997 to 2001, while her grandfather Ebbah Hamsain competed in the breaststroke event of the 1958 Asian Games in Tokyo, Japan.

James De los Santos, the current top world ranked e-kata athlete in the male senior’s division, expressed his excitement on another No. 1 Filipino player. Hamsain is No. 9 in the U-15 female bracket.

“She has shown a lot of dedication this year. I’m really proud of what she has accomplished. She was able to become the new world no. 1 of the U15 Female e-Kumite division in a short amount of time is nothing short of amazing.”

“Being on the top 10 of the U15 Female eKata world ranking is also a huge feat for me as her kata teacher. But knowing her, she will keep pushing herself to the No. 1 spot. I believe that she’ll get it.”

“It also surprises me that she was able to achieve this while balancing with her hectic studies,” he added.
