SMART CLARK GIGA CITY–Magnolia kept its top four hopes alive after posting its fifth straight win at the expense of also-ran NorthPort, 83-76, Sunday at the Angeles University Foundation Arena.

The Hotshots built a 20-point before subduing the Batang Pier’s late fightback to forge a three-way deadlock at No. 4 with a 6-4 slate.

Ian Sangalang pumped in 23 points and nine rebounds while Paul Lee chipped in 14 markers, eight assists and six boards for Magnolia.

Jackson Corpuz, Rome Dela Rosa and rookie Aris Dionisio added 10 points apiece in the win.

Christian Standhardinger’s double-double of 18 points and 17 rebounds along with Kevin Ferrer’s 18 markers went down the drain as NorthPort absorbed its fourth straight loss and fell to 1-8.

The Batang Pier already bowed out of contention following Blackwater’s 82-71 loss to Rain or Shine earlier.
