After conquering the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Pro League-Philippines (MPL-PH), Bren Esports’ renowned coach Francis “Duckey” Glindro is now eyeing to win a world championship for the country.

Duckey, former mentor of the Indonesian champion EVOS Legends, said he expected his powerhouse Bren team to dominate the MPL-PH Season 6 and eventually lift the trophy that would complement its #BrenLangMalakas war cry.

“I had the same exact feeling when we won MPL ID (Indonesia) S4. I felt the team’s desire to win and I think the regular season’s top seed place was a huge giveaway,” he told the Manila Bulletin in a Facebook message.

Composed of veterans Angelo “Pheww” Arcangel, CJ “Ribo” Ribo, Allan “Lusty” Castromayor and young guns Karl “KarlTzy” Nepomuceno and David “FlapTzy” Canon, Bren showed its star power with a fluid cohesion to lord over the eight-week group stage and take the No. 1 spot in Group B.

From there, the black and gold squad never took its foot off the gas pedal and cruised to 3-0 sweeps of Nexplay Solid and Onic PH in the playoffs.
Bren capped off its title run with a 4-2 crushing of Smart Omega in the grand finals.

It was the first MPL-PH title for the Bren banner following runner-up finishes in Season 2 and 3. Technically, it was the second crown for the franchise, which acquired the Season 1 winning team Aether Main.

On top of that, the Bernard “Bren” Chong-owned team bagged the lion’s share of the prize pool at $25,000 (P1.2 million).

Bren also put an end to its “intro boys” and “chokers” tags, proving that with the guidance of an experienced tactician and extensive training provided by a committed organization, they can win it all in such a dominant fashion.

Looking forward, Duckey said he is seeking to steer the Filipino team to the apex of the MLBB esports scene.

“I’m definitely getting closer to my goal which is the world championship for a Philippine team,” said Duckey, who is no stranger to the most prestigious international tournament of MLBB after leading EVOS to the M1 title last year.

“This (MPL title) is just one step basically.”
